Ashes, the mother of all cricket tournaments has started. The first test at Cardiff was a stunner. England just managed to salvage their reputation at their home. The team must be thanking their gods and Collingwood for the draw they secured in a nail biting match.
James Anderson and Monty Panesar performed the task which was supposed to be done by the likes of Peter ka Beta(fondly called by the ipl blogger), Strauss and others. The English team is lucky to go into the second match with the series still being 0-0.
Well, another test match which deserves a mention in this post is the one between Sri-Lanka and Pakistan. Pakistan lived upto its name of being 'Weapons Of Self Destruction'. The 'Collapso Kings' masterminded their fall after sitting pretty at 285/1. After lunch, they lost 9 wickets for a mere 35 runs. The Pakistani bowlers also failed miserably at the crucial juncture.

Indian cricket fans finally have something to cheer about. India won the Digicel series 2-1. A question irks my mind.Wasn't it a hollow victory considering the fact that the last match was abandoned and the third ODI was decided on the basis of the mystery yet to be solved, the Duckworth-Lewis rule?
Every dark cloud has a silver lining. This series definitely helped Dhoni silence his critics who had targeted their guns at him for the T-20 world cup debacle and for his own poor show with the bat. He has gone a step ahead in his quest for the "Man Of the Match Award"( as he claims in the ad of a cellular brand) by winning the "Man Of the Series" award.
There is loads of cricketing action coming up this month. The Ashes will definitely set the temperatures soaring with high doses of cricketing action, inflated egos, sledging and the likes of these.
